The skirt was a bit theatrical for the office but perfect for feeling comfortably covered while seated and working. I actually bought the skirt when I was interning two summers ago and was planning to spend the night at a friends house and needed something to wear to work the next day. It was a not so cute strapless dress on clearance. I tucked the top in, tried it as a skirt and have worn it exclusively as such ever since. Sorry the pics aren’t great but you get the silhouette.

-Cropped blazer, Forever 21- $22.80

-Necklace, Charlotte Russe- $5.00

-Camisole Undershirt, Forever 21- $2.80

-Dress made into a skirt, Forever 21- $7.80 (?) on clearance

-Shoes, H&M,-$20.00

This outfit could have taken a turn for the worse as I was pretty lazy AGAIN this morning, still don’t have any clean slacks and had to be semi-creative. Toss out all the rule you learned in elementary school about skirt lengths: to the fingertips, three inches above, etc… If it rides up when you sit down, it’s just not work worthy. Your huhot should not be what gets you acclaim in the office. Not to mention, you can’t work if you’re steady tuggin’!

If I thought I looked perfect all the time or I thought dressing for success was so easy, how much fun would that be? The day I wore this presented a few challenges:

1) I had no clean clothes and what was clean was packed away from moving

2) My 4-yr old niece begged me to wear black glitter flats instead of heels

3) I felt sick as a dog and only wanted to wear sweats (though I wouldn’t dare show up at an office in anything remotely like gym wear)

So, in a terrible mood and a hurry to get out the door, I threw this on:

-Forever 21 Dress- $8.90

-Francesca’s Collections Belts- $15

-[No name] Black Glitter Flats - $10

And even though I got compliments from random strangers….

I will say, the dress was too short! When I sat down, I had to tug and tug and tug to “stay decent” and that’s not how you climb the ladder. Your hands should be working away not tugging at your hem. So, make sure dresses and skirts are to the knee when you stand so that when you slip it won’t shame your household.
